Paris Olympics 2024: Complete list of mixed doubles teams ft. Coco Gauff/Taylor Fritz, Stefanos Tsitsipas/Maria Sakkari
Team nominations for the mixed doubles event in tennis at the Paris Olympics 2024 were revealed on Wednesday, July 24. Only players who had already entered in either singles or doubles were eligible to participate in mixed doubles.
Based on the combined rankings of both players, the top 16 teams were selected. A spot was reserved for France as the host nation but since their players were ranked high enough to enter directly, they didn't need the special exemption.
Only the four highest-ranked pairs will be seeded. The draw will be revealed on Thursday, July 25, and the first-round matches will commence on Monday, July 29.
As is the case with mixed doubles at the Olympics, there are some interesting team-ups. Laura Siegemund and Alexander Zverev were instrumental in ensuring Germany's United Cup triumph earlier this year. The duo have joined forces once again and are the top seed in mixed doubles at the Paris Olympics.
Zverev also won the gold medal in men's singles at the Tokyo Olympics. Doubles specialists Matthew Ebden and Ellen Perez are seeded second, and the American pairing of Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz are the third seeds. This will be their first time teaming up to compete in mixed doubles.
Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas are the fourth seeds. They have teamed up in the past and made the quarterfinals at the Tokyo Olympics. Kazakhstan will be represented by former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, and Alexander Bublik.
Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marcel Granollers will lead the Spanish charge, while Demi Schuurs and Wesley Koolhof will represent the Netherlands. The Canadian duo of Felix Auger-Aliassime and Gabriela Dabrowski will partner up for the same.
Daniil Medvedev and Mirra Andreeva to partake as Individual Neutral Athletes at the Paris Olympics
Italy have opted to go with their doubles pros for the event as Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori will play together in mixed doubles at the Paris Olympics. Daniil Medvedev and Mirra Andreeva won't compete under the Russian flag due to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
The pair will instead participate as individual neutral athletes. Andreeva recently reached the semifinals of the French Open, her first at a Major, while Medvedev is a former quarterfinalist at the venue.
The host nation will be represented by Caroline Garcia and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. Czech players Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac are playing together. The former recently won the French Open and Wimbledon this year and the gold medal in women's doubles in Tokyo.
Donna Vekic and Mate Pavic will aim to bring glory to Croatia, and the latter won the gold medal in men's doubles at the previous Olympics. Brits Heather Watson and Joe Salisbury, Chinese players Zheng Qinwen and Zhang Zhizhen, and Japanese pros Kei Nishikori and Ena Shibahara round out the mixed doubles field.
