Paris Olympics 2024 doubles seeds: Jannik Sinner & Lorenzo Musetti the top seeds among men, American duo Coco Gauff & Jessica Pegula lead women's draw
Paris is set to host the 30th Summer Olympics starting from July 26. More than 10000 athletes will participate across more than 300 events to win medals for their respective nations.
The tennis event will see high-octane doubles action along with singles matches. Two Italian pairs lead the way for the men's doubles draw in Paris. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti are the top seeds to compete for the gold medal on the Parisian clay. Both Sinner and Musetti have only played a handful of matches in doubles this year, but their individual form makes them the top favorites for the event.
Another Italian duo of Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolleli are the second seeds in the men's double at the Olympics. This Italian pair has been one of the most prolific teams in men's doubles this year. Along with making it to the finals of both the Australian and the French Open, the pair have won two titles at Buenos Aires and Halle this year.
On the women's front, the American team of Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula are the top seeds. The pair have only played a couple of events together in 2024. However, they made it to the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon Championships, before losing to Su-Wei Hsieh and Elise Mertens. Gauff won her maiden doubles Grand Slam at Roland Garros this year, partnering with Katerina Siniakova.
The Czech duo of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova are the second seeds in the women's doubles event. The former is coming on the back of her second Major singles title at Wimbledon, whereas the latter has won the French Open and the Wimbledon in doubles with other partners. The duo are the defending gold medallists from Tokyo 2020 and have won 7 Grand Slam titles.
Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini are the other Italian seeds along with Sinner-Musetti, and Bolleli-Vavassori
Italy has further representation regarding seeding at the Olympics doubles events. The duo of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini have been in terrific form this season. Along with making it to the finals of the French Open, where they lost to Gauff and Siniakova, the team has won a title on clay, winning the Italian Open.
Paolini is in great form, achieving the rare feat of reaching the Roland Garros and Wimbledon final in the same year. Errani herself is a former singles finalist at Roland Garros.
Conversely, American seeds are also present in the men's side of the draw. Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul are the fourth seeds in the competition. The pair has only played one doubles match in 2024, where they lost to Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Francisco Cerundolo in the opening round of the Italian Open. However, they are the top two Americans on the ATP rankings and make a formidable team.
The other American team on the men's side are the fifth seeds, Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek. The pair have not played extensively in 2024 but reached the semi-final of the recently concluded Hamburg Open. However, Rajeev Ram is a former World No.1 player in doubles with 4 Grand Slam titles in men's doubles. The veteran player's experience will hold the team in good standing.
Here's the list of the men's and women's double seeds at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
