Andre Agassi, John McEnroe & co. at Pickleball Slam: Which tennis players will compete, when and where to watch, prize money & more
The Pickleball Slam is almost here and is set to feature some of the biggest names in tennis history, who will face off in a pickleball event this Sunday. This is the inaugural edition of the Pickleball Slam with a million dollars at stake.
Pickleball has seen an increasing level of interest from the tennis world. Four American tennis greats with 17 Grand Slam singles titles between them, will compete at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, in both singles and doubles matches.
Andre Agassi and John McEnroe headline tennis players who will compete at Pickleball Slam
Andre Agassi and John McEnroe will resume their tennis rivalry on the pickleball court as they face each other during the exhibition event on Sunday. The two tennis greats, with 15 Grand Slam singles titles between them, will be joined by Andy Roddick and Michael Chang.
Roddick will take on Chang in a singles match, while McEnroe and Agassi will face-off in another singles contest. Chang will team up with McEnroe for a doubles contest against the dream pairing of Agassi and Roddick.
Agassi recently revealed that he loves playing pickleball. The former Olympic gold medallist also vowed to continue playing the sport even beyond Sunday's event.
"As far as the interest in it, are we anywhere near the best pickleball players? One-hundred-percent no is the answer to that question," Agassi told USA Today. "But there's tens of millions of people playing the game for obvious reasons. They love it. And I'm one of them."
Pickleball Slam Schedule
Roddick will take on Chang in the first match of the day, followed by the highly anticipated clash between Agassi and McEnroe. Chang/McEnroe will then face Agassi/Roddick in the final scheduled match of the day. While the singles matches will earn the winners one point each, the winners of the doubles contest will win two points.
A final match will then be held in case of a tie on points.
Where to watch Pickleball Slam
The event will be broadcast on ESPN at 12 pm ET on Sunday, April 2. The event will be shown before the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship game.
Prize Money for Pickleball Slam
Agassi, McEnroe, Roddick, and Chang will compete for a $1 million check in Florida on Sunday.
