PICTURE: Iga Swiatek shares adorable snap of herself as a kid celebrating Christmas to spread festive cheer
Iga Swiatek shared an adorable childhood image to mark Christmas celebrations. Recently, the Pole landed in Sydney, Australia, to represent her nation at the 2025 United Cup.
Swiatek took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a nostalgic childhood photo of herself standing next to Santa Claus. The World No. 2 embraced the festive spirit, pairing the post with a heartfelt Christmas greeting in both Polish and English.
Swiatek's greetings come hours after she was spotted at Sydney airport to join the Polish team in preparations for the United Cup. The prestigious team event is set to begin this week.
"Polish team is amazing" - Iga Swiatek exudes confidence ahead of the United Cup 2025
Iga Swiatek, upon arriving in Sydney for the 2025 United Cup, reflected on Poland's heartbreak in last year’s final. Poland narrowly lost to Germany, with Swiatek securing a victory in her singles match against Angelique Kerber.
However, Hubert Hurkacz fell short against Alexander Zverev, and the mixed doubles duo of Swiatek and Hurkacz endured a nail-biting defeat, 6-4, 5-7, [4-10], against Laura Siegemund and Zverev.
Discussing their aspirations for this year's tournament, Iga Swiatek told the United Cup's media team:
"For sure, last year, we were so close—match points on Hubi's [Hurkacz] match... This year, we want another chance and hope to go deep into the tournament to fight for the win because I think the Polish team is amazing."
She also touched on the challenges of starting the season at the United Cup:
"It's the first tournament of the year, so you never know what kind of tennis you’re going to bring. You need a few days to figure out how you’ll feel on court, but both matches will be tough."
Poland have been drawn against the Czech Republic and Norway in Group B. Swiatek will open her campaign in a singles match against Malene Helgo of Norway on Monday, December 30. Hurkacz is expected to face Casper Ruud in the same tie.
Next, Poland will take on the Czech Republic on Wednesday, January 1. Swiatek will take on the dangerous Karolina Muchova in singles.
"There are no easy matches in United Cup, especially the one with the Czech Republic with Karolina Muchova. I always played really great battles, like three setters usually," Swiatek said.
In the same tie, Hurkacz is set to face Tomas Machac. The 2025 United Cup will kick off on Friday, December 27, featuring nearly 100 players launching their new season at this prestigious team event.
