She met Julia Lemigova, a former Miss USSR and successful entrepreneur, in 2000, but their romantic connection flourished after reconnecting in 2008. The couple married in 2014.
In August 2024, it was revealed that Navratilova and Lemigova were no longer empty nesters. The couple had adopted a pair of sons.
"We are over the moon, recognising the challenges and the rewards for everybody," Navratilova said in a statement, according to her agent Mary Greenham.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Lemigova shared her experience of being sleep-deprived due to caring for her children. Despite the challenges, she expressed joy in embracing motherhood again.
"I'm sleep-deprived but so happy. It's becoming a reality because it's only been three months, but it's been a very intense, loving, incredible, three months," she said.
"When we got married, [Navratilova] promised me, one of her vows was she would get off social media a little bit because she's constantly on Twitter [now X] and that it took her how many years of marriage to actually be less on social media because of the boys because now she has no time," she added.
Lemigova also shared how Navratilova has wholeheartedly embraced their parenting journey, from preparing breakfast to school drop-offs.
