PICTURE: New mom Petra Kvitova shares adorable sight of son Petr watching her play tennis during Maldives vacation

Petra Kvitova shared a picture of her son Petr happily watching her play tennis on Sunday, December 8. The Czech star is enjoying a getaway with her adorable son in the Maldives.

Kvitova has been out of action for some time. Her last appearance on the court was at the 2023 China Open, where she lost to Liudmila Samsonova in the second round.

The two-time Wimbledon champion and her husband Jiri Vanek announced her pregnancy together in January this year. The Czech player shared a picture featuring the two with an adorable romper for their son, Petr.

"On the first day of 2024 I wanted to wish you a happy new year and share the exciting news that Jiri and I will be welcoming a baby into our family this summer!"

The couple welcomed their son in July this year. While currently away from the tour, Kvitova recently returned to the court for a practice session during their Maldives vacation, with baby Petr watching from the sidelines. She shared the adorable picture on Instagram, writing:

"Watching my mom play tennis and I can't wait until we play together! Hideawaybeachmaldives has amazing US Open style courts - not something you find everywhere!" Kvitova wrote.

Kvitova and Vanek began dating in 2021 and tied the knot in July last year. Coincidentally, their son Petr was born a year later.

Petra Kvitova revealed in an interview with LP-life.cz in October that she had expected a smoother delivery, but it became a challenging "ordeal" that required an emergency c-section.

"I thought the birth would go better, but it was an ordeal and I ended up having an emergency c-section, so it wasn't very nice. I still have a few extra pounds, but it's slowly coming back down, so I hope it will soon be as it should be," she said (via tennis world).

The 34-year-old's return to the tour is uncertain as of now. She said that with the arrival of their son, her decisions are now more dependent on her family, physical recovery, and mental readiness.

"I'm not the youngest anymore and we have a son, so it's more of a family decision, at the moment. We'll see how it goes. Now I have it open, also because of how I ended up with the c-section. I haven't said it myself, so I'm keeping the question open about how it will end for me, both mentally and physically," she added.

Kvitova’s standout performance last year came at the Miami Open, where she defeated Elena Rybakina in the final. She also claimed the title at the Ecotrans Ladies Open in Berlin, overcoming Donna Vekic.
