The 37-year-old had stated many times that winning gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics was a big mission for him. However, his plans were put in jeopardy when he suffered a medial meniscus tear in his right knee at the French Open following which he underwent surgery. The World No. 2 made a phenomenal recovery at Wimbledon where he made it to the final but fell to Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets.

Seeded first at the event, the 24-time Major champion kicked off his campaign by decimating Australia's Matthew Ebden and then made a statement win against his longtime rival Rafael Nadal in straight sets. He then ousted Germany's Dominik Koepfer and Stefanos Tsitsipas next to reach the semifinals where he faced Lorenzo Mussetti.

Though he faced some hiccups in the initial part of the second set, the Serb eventually managed to eliminate the Italian and reach his maiden Olympic singles final where he is facing Carlos Alcaraz. En route to the summit clash, he didn't drop a single set.

Djokovic's full family was in attendance for the Olympic final and his six-year-old daughter Tara even came up with an adorable sign to cheer for her father. A user posted the image of Tara holding the sign on X (formerly Twitter) and translated what it read.

"My dad is the best," the sign read.

At the time of publishing the article, Djokovic led the Olympic final by taking the opening set 7-6(3) 7-6(2) to win the elusive gold and complete the career Golden Slam.
