PICTURE: Serena Williams presents unique t-shirt to promote women's sports on her return to US Open 2024
Two years after hanging up her tennis racket, Serena Williams returned to Flushing Meadows during the 2024 US Open. And yet again, the American was seen promoting women's sports during her time in New York.
On Sunday, September 1, Williams returned to Flushing Meadows to watch Grigor Dimitrov’s fourth-round clash against Andrey Rublev, where the Bulgarian ultimately prevailed. She also watched Jannik Sinner's third-round match against Christopher O'Connell, which the Italian won to advance to the fourth round.
While in New York for the US Open, Williams continued her advocacy for women's sports, however, with a distinctive t-shirt.
"Everyone Watches Women's Sports," the T-shirt read.

Williams has long been an advocate for women's sports. The 42-year-old, in partnership with Nike, invested $1.3 million in 20 organizations supporting the cause.
Williams also attended the all-American third-round women's clash between Emma Navarro and Coco Gauff at the US Open. Gauff’s run at Flushing Meadows ultimately came to an end with a 3-6, 6-4, 3-6 loss to her compatriot.
Earlier, the 42-year-old sported her iconic denim skirt, inspired by Andre Agassi, while posing on the tournament's blue carpet.
"Women’s sport is exciting" - Serena Williams expressed interest in investing in a WNBA team while hailing women's sports
Serena Williams has invested in numerous ventures, including 16 unicorns, through her company, Serena Ventures. In an interview with CNN in April, the 42-year-old expressed interest in investing in a WNBA team, emphasizing that women's sports are just as exciting to watch, making it a sound investment.
“I absolutely would be (interested). With the right market, I would definitely be super interested in that. There is no risk. Women’s sport is exciting, women are exciting to watch. What’s the difference? … I think that even more people watched the college women’s basketball than the men. So I think that people are realizing that is exciting to watch,” Williams said.
Williams has also shown support for young female athletes in her previous interviews. Like Williams, her husband Alexis Ohanian has also been a strong advocate for women's sports. The Reddit co-founder and serial entrepreneur is the largest shareholder of the National Women's Soccer League team Angel City.
Williams met Ohanian in 2015 and they got married two years later. They have two daughters, Olympia who is 7, and Adira who is 1.
