"Please take this seriously" - Chris Evert amplifies Tampa Mayor Jane Castor’s dire Category 4 Hurricane Milton warning
Chris Evert amplified the Mayor of Tampa, Jane Castor's stark warning as Hurricane Milton makes its way towards Florida. Castor bluntly informed the residents of Tampa that they would die if they chose to stay in one of the evacuation areas.
Days after Florida was ravaged by Hurricane Helene, which reached Category 4 strength, another powerful storm, Hurricane Milton, is on its way to the Sunshine State. Milton was briefly classified as a Category 5 storm, the highest category on the Saffir–Simpson scale.
However, after weakening earlier in the day, it is now categorized as a Category 4 storm. Despite this downgrade, it is still expected to cause significant destruction, according to the Castor.
In an interview with CNN's Kaitlan Collins, the Tampa Mayor issued a stark warning:
“And I can say without any dramatization whatsoever that if you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you’re gonna die.”
She went on to discuss forecasts predicting a tidal surge of 10 to 12 feet, surpassing Helene’s 6-foot surge, which had already devastated many areas along the coast.
Additionally, severe flash floods are anticipated to impact the state further.
Chris Evert reposted a clip of Castor's warning on X and wrote:
"Please take this warning seriously!"
Earlier, Florida Mayor Ron DeSantis called Hurricane Milton a "monster." President Joe Biden also urged citizens to evacuate as it is a "matter of life and death." The Sunshine State is preparing for one of the largest evacuation exercises in recent years.
