Pregnant Naomi Osaka admits she knows the sex of her baby but her boyfriend Cordae doesn't
A few days before the 2023 Australian Open began, Naomi Osaka withdrew and revealed that she is gearing up to welcome her first child with American rapper Cordae later this year. Osaka recently stated that while she is aware of the sex of the baby, her boyfriend doesn't know. The couple started dating each other in 2019.
The former World No. 1 recently became the first-ever individual to collaborate on a collection with clothing brand Victoria's Secret. While informing her fans, a proud Osaka revealed that all the clothes from her collection were made out of recycled material.
The four-time Grand Slam champion recently attended an event in West Hollywood, California, where she spoke about her new collaboration. After revealing that she was the only one who knew about the sex of the baby, Osaka stated that she was looking forward to embracing the challenges that would come with motherhood.
"I've been preparing, but he doesn't know the gender yet, only I know," Osaka said. "So it's not like I can build out the room or anything. So I don't know, [I'm] just kind of winging it. That's kind of the key motto in my life a little."
The 25-year-old added that although she didn't know everything about the "adventure" of motherhood, there were some amazing people with her to help her out.
"I think what I'm looking forward to most is the challenges and just learning. I think there's going to be a lot of things that I don't know, but I have a lot of really amazing people close to me that I can ask questions about. Just a new adventure," she added.
"I’m gonna have to go with the flow" - Naomi Osaka on her preparation for motherhood
During a recent interview with Vogue, Naomi Osaka was asked how she was preparing for motherhood. The World No. 66 remarked that since it was her first experience, she was really excited about welcoming the baby. However, the 25-year-old added that she preferred to take it one step at a time.
“I’m not really sure I can prepare,” Naomi Osaka said. “I know there are things I can buy and classes I can take. This is going to be my first, and I’m really excited. Everyone I know that has had a kid, it has changed their life. I don’t think I can prepare for it. I think I’m gonna have to go with the flow.”
The last tournament that Osaka played in was the WTA 500 Toray Pan Pacific Open last September. She is likely to return to action in 2024.
