Rafael Nadal Netflix documentary: First trailer on Spaniard's career & retirement journey released | WATCH
In what has been an interesting turn of developments, Netflix has officially released an initial trailer for Rafael Nadal's documentary. The streaming platform has yet to announce a date for the production's release.
The Trailer is an intelligent piece of artistic production, which shows an artist drawing an image of the great Spaniard in clay, depicting Nadal's excellence on the surface during his career. In the background, commentators in various languages can be heard narrating the significant milestones in the former World No. 1's career.
As reported, the documentary will feature the Spaniard's important career moments, highlighting the milestones. The film will also cover the retirement of the 22-time Major champion and show his last moments on the Tour as a professional tennis player. The film aims to give the audience a closer look at the tennis great, with the help of behind-the-scenes footage spread across Nadal's career.
Rafael Nadal drew curtains on his two-decade-long career at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga in November. He represented Spain in the quarterfinal against the Netherlands. Even though the Spaniard lost his last match to Botic Van de Zandschulp, he finished his career with 1080 wins and 92 career titles.
Rafael Nadal retired as the "King of Clay"
The small montage, which was released in the trailer of the Rafael Nadal documentary, depicted an image of the Spaniard on the clay. This was an apt depiction as the Spaniard has over 60 career titles on the surface alone.
The iconic Spaniard's 112-4 record at Roland Garros, and his 14 French Open titles is an unmatched record not only in the sport of tennis but in all of sports in general. The former World No. 1 won over 90% of his matches on the surface and even dominated his two close rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on it.
However, outside of the red dirt, the Spaniard has left a significant legacy as well. He has won eight Grand Slmas outside the French Open, which alone puts him in the debate of the greats. His 2008 Wimbledon triumph over Federer in the final is tennis folklore and cements Nadal's position as one of the greats.
Nadal's influence was not limited to tennis. His attitude towards the sport and his undying tenacity were a source of inspiration for athletes from all different sports across the world. Sporting legends from all different games other than tennis all came together to pay their tributes when the Mallorcan announced his retirement.
