Rafael Nadal vs Carlos Alcaraz: Where to watch, TV schedule, live streaming details and more | Six Kings Slam
Former World No. 1 Rafael Nadal will take on Carlos Alcaraz in the Six Kings Slam on Thursday. He leads the head-to-head against the youngster 2-1.
After a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Nadal returned to the men's tour this year in January. He's chalked up 12 wins from 19 matches so far, including a quarterfinal run in the Brisbane International and a fourth-round appearance at the Madrid Open.
The Spaniard also secured a runner-up finish in Bastad, which was his best performance this year. Despite a valiant effort against Nuno Borges in the final, the Portuguese outfoxed him in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Nadal will enter Riyadh on the back of a second-round exit in the Paris Olympics, where he lost to Novak Djokovic.
Carlos Alcaraz, meanwhile, has been among the standout performers on the men's tour this year. After a slow start to the season, he quickly found his stride by defending his title in the BNP Paribas Open. The 21-year-old then garnered title-winning runs in Paris and Wimbledon and also secured a bronze medal finish at the Summer Olympics.
Alacaraz will enter Riyadh on the back of a quarterfinal exit in the Shanghai Masters. He defeated the likes of Wu Yibing and Gael Monfils en route to the last eight, but couldn't make his mark against Tomas Machac. The Czech player defeated him in straight sets, 7-6(5), 7-5.
Nadal has announced his retirement from professional tennis at the Davis Cup Finals in November. He is expected to team up with Alcaraz for the event in Malaga.
The 38-year-old has defeated the youngster twice in his career, but lost his most recent encounter at the 2022 Madrid Open. Alacaraz got past him in the quarterfinals in a thrilling three-set bout, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.
The Riyadh crowd can expect an engrossing contest on Thursday. It'll be interesting to see if Nadal can challenge the in-form Alcaraz in one of his last events on tour.
