"Respect would go out the window" - Nick Kyrgios reveals plans to cause 'absolute riot' against Jannik Sinner in potential Australian Open 2025 clash
Nick Kyrgios has candidly outlined his intention for a potential clash with Jannik Sinner at the 2025 Australian Open. Kyrgios has harbored animosity for Sinner since the revelation of his doping controversy, being the most vocal critic of what he perceives as lenient punishment meted out to the World No. 1.
Kyrgios hasn't shied away from taking repeated jibes at the Italian since the latter received a no-fault verdict from the ITIA after testing positive for Clostebol. The Australian has since called for Sinner to be handed a two-year ban, hit out at the 23-year-old for "acting like a victim," and vehemently dismissed the idea of teaming up with him for doubles.
During a recent appearance on Sam Querrey, Steve Johnson and Jack Sock's 'Nothing Major' podcast, Nick Kyrgios expressed his eagerness to confront the World No. 1 on the tennis court as he gears up to make a comeback after an extended injury layoff.
"But I feel like I've got a lot more, I've got something, you know, let's be honest. I just want to go out there and I really want to play Sinner. Like I'm waiting for it man," Kyrgios said.
Kyrgios entertained the idea of squaring off against the two-time Grand Slam champion in a fiery clash at the 2025 Australian Open, revealing his plan to turn the entire crowd against Sinner.
The Australian also emphasized that he would set aside "all respect" and turn the blockbuster contest into an "absolute riot" in his relentless pursuit of victory.
"Well, I thought about this and I've been thinking, I've been talking about it a little bit, like if I played him in Australian Open, like I would get every single person in the crowd to just like get on him. Like I would just turn it into an absolute riot. Like I would lose all respect, all respect would go out the window and I would just do anything to win," he added.
"Jannik Sinner is rubbing cream all over his body that gives him some crazy aura; It's not fair, that's why I'm angry" - Nick Kyrgios
With Iga Swiatek testing positive for trimetazidine (TMZ) due to a contaminated melatonin supplement and accepting a one-month suspension, Nick Kyrgios has targeted the Pole alongside Jannik Sinner in his criticism.
During the aforementioned podcast, Kyrgios explained that his anger stemmed from the "unfairness" of the Italian gaining a "crazy aura" after being massaged with an ointment that contained Clostebol.
"Then this guy is rubbing cream all over his body that gives him (referring to Jannik Sinner) some crazy aura. It's not fair. That's why I'm angry about it," Kyrgios said.
Nick Kyrgios recently took another jab at Jannik Sinner, suggesting that he would've received a two-year ban if he had tested positive for Clostebol instead of the World No. 1.
