Roger Federer will always brag about skiing: Trevor Noah

While Roger Federer has rightfully earned the bragging rights in tennis, the 20-time Grand Slam champion’s good friend – South African comedian Trevor Noah has revealed that the Swiss also loves bragging about his time spent skiing.

Roger Federer and Trevor Noah recently featured in a fun commercial together, promoting tourism in Switzerland. The duo later made an appearance on the FT Globetrotter to discuss the commercial and share their Swiss experiences. Skiing, which is highly popular in the Alpine country, was one of the topics of conversation.

A couple of months ago, Roger Federer made a post on his social media where he revealed that he had returned to skiing for the first time in 15 years. Trevor Noah jokingly stated that the Swiss Maestro had been bragging about his skiing adventures and teasing the comedian about his inexperience in the sport.

“Every time I talk to Roger, you know, he’ll always brag about skiing and he’ll always be like, ‘I’m skiing, what are you doing in life Trevor? Nothing!’” Noah recalled.

The South African further confessed that he lacked the skills, but wished to fulfill his dream of skiing through the Matterhorn with assistance from Federer.

“I can’t ski. I’ve tried it once in South Africa. But we only had enough snow for you to like, maybe ski and then hit the ground. So, I want to come back and try that,” Noah said.
“My dream is to ski from the top of the mountain that was always on the Toblerone chocolates. That’s my dream Roger. You take me there and I’m gonna make it happen. That’s all I know,” he added.

Apart from his skiing ambitions, the former television host also declared that he will be continuing his tennis practice, taught to him by Roger Federer himself.

“I promised him I’d keep playing tennis because I learned to play with him. So, that will keep me outdoors here and there,” Noah stated.

The friendship between Roger Federer and Trevor Noah goes back a long way. The South African was also a part of Roger Federer’s ‘Match for Africa’ exhibition match initiative in 2020, where the duo featured alongside Rafael Nadal and Bill Gates.

A few months back, the former World No. 1 was also invited by Noah as one of his last guests before he wrapped up his duties as the host of 'The Daily Show.' During the talk show appearance, Trevor Noah praised the tennis legend’s humility and recalled his graciousness.

"You're a great ambassador for Switzerland. You're a great ambassador for the sport of tennis. And honestly, you're a great ambassador for human beings. Thank you for everything you've done. We appreciate you so much," Noah said.
"I came to Switzerland for the first time on my comedy tour. You were gracious -- Roger reached out, this is the kind of person this man is, the greatest tennis player who's ever lived, one of the greatest athletes of all time,” he added.
