"Roger Federer would’ve paid for the wall... I won Wimbledon 2009 final" - Andy Roddick ridicules Donald Trump's claim of ending Russia-Ukraine war
Andy Roddick has not taken kindly to former US President Donald Trump's claims about his ability to end the Russia-Ukraine war with ease. The former World No. 1 took a sarcastic jab at Trump's assertion, making humorous references to his own loss to Roger Federer in the 2009 Wimbledon final.
With the 2024 US presidential election just around the corner, Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris faced off in a highly anticipated debate on Tuesday, September 10.
During the debate, Trump was questioned about his belief that he could solve the Russian-Ukraine war, which has been raging since February 2022, within "24 hours."
The Republican nominee reaffirmed his claim, asserting that he could settle the conflict before he even became president by bringing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin together. Trump also suggested that the war would've never occurred if he were president at the time.
"I want this war to stop," Trump said. "That's a war that is dying to get settled. I will get it settled before I even become president. If I win, when I'm president elect and what I'll do is, I'll speak to one, I'll speak to the other. I'll get them [Zelenskyy and Putin] together. That war would have never happened," Trump.
Andy Roddick demonstrated his disdain for Donald Trump's statements by making a sarcastic reference to his narrow 5-7, 7-6(6), 7-6(5), 3-6, 16-14 loss to Roger Federer in the Wimbledon 2009 final.
"Wimbledon finals 2009 would have never happened if I was there ……. Never woulda happened," Andy Roddick posted on X.
Roddick further ridiculed Trump's remarks by asserting that he had defeated Federer in the Wimbledon final and poked fun at the former president's claims that Mexico would pay for the border wall.
"Roger would’ve paid for the wall …..," the American wrote.
"I won that final. Won more break points that day. Nobody won more break points than I did that day," Roddick commented further.
Andy Roddick continues to take digs at Donald Trump: "When you elect me we are gonna have pizza all days and summer will be year round"
Continuing his critique of Donald Trump's seeming false promises, Andy Roddick humorously remarked that when he became president, he would ensure that Americans had pizza every day and could enjoy summer year-round from his very first day in office.
The former World No. 1 also made a sarcastic reference to "cat eaters," mocking Trump's false accusations that immigrants in Ohio are "eating the dogs and eating the cats."
"Promise when you elect me we are gonna have pizza all of the days and summer will be year round. But not the super hot kind. First day. One call. Maybe even before ….. also all windmills and cat eaters ……. GONE. First day. Done," Roddick posted.
Andy Roddick has been vocal regarding his strong disapproval of Donald Trump, recently criticizing the former president for calling America a "third world nation."
