Serena Williams' daughter Olympia takes the tennis court, father Alexis Ohanian reacts to her display of skills
Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian reacted with joy as their daughter Olympia showed off her skills on the tennis court.
Ohanian takes an active interest in Olympia's extracurricular pursuits, nurturing her passion for activities such as LEGO building, science experiments and art. He also supports her sporting interests, taking her golfing and encouraging the love she has for soccer.
Despite Olympia's general interest in sports, she hadn't previously displayed a significant enthusiasm for tennis. Earlier this year, Serena Williams had even revealed that the six-year-old was not particularly passionate about tennis, despite her natural talent for the the sport.
"Olympia doesn't actually like to play tennis too much. That's a little disappointing for me, but she's actually really good at it," Serena Willliams said on the CBS show 'Person to Person with Norah O'Donnell.
However, Olympia appears to have developed a deeper appreciation for the sport as she recently stepped onto the court and showed off her skills. Alexis Ohanian shared a picture of the six-year-old practicing her backhand on social media and reacted with joy.
"😍," he posted.
While discussing Olympia's reluctance to play tennis, Serena Williams had also suggested turning tennis into a social activity as way to encourage the six-year-old to participate in the sport.
"So we are trying to figure out a way to get her to play a little bit. Olympia loves being social...She loves being around friends, she loves going to school. Maybe I can push her into tennis by getting other kids to have a group lesson, I think that's what I'm gonna do...I really want her to play at least a little bit, because she's actually really good at it," Williams said.
