Serena Williams' ex-coach makes his feelings known on Australian Open 2025 women's singles competition ft. Coco Gauff

Serena Williams' ex-coach Rick Macci voiced his thoughts on the Australian Open 2025 and gave a shoutout to Coco Gauff. Macci is active on social media and often expresses his opinions about upcoming tennis tournaments.

The 2025 season is on the horizon and several athletes will soon play their first match of the season. With the ASB Classic, United Cup, and Brisbane International set to begin in the coming weeks, the tennis community is also waiting for the Australian Open to begin, which is slated to commence on January 12 and will conclude on January 26, 2025.

Serena Williams' ex-coach Macci penned his thoughts on X about how the Australian Open 2025 women's singles competition would unfold. He expressed that the tournament is a 'jump ball' and said that it will give a succinct look at the skills of the player. Along with this, he also tagged Coco Gauff at the end of the tweet. He wrote:

"The Australian Open on the WTA side is a jump ball. So many players ready to go to the Next Level mentally and Down Under will give us a snapshot who will Up Over. @CocoGauff"

Serena Williams' ex-coach praised Coco Gauff's skills

In a tweet on X in October 2024, Serena Williams' ex-coach Rick Macci appreciated Coco Gauff for her skills and said that she would be a 'multiple-time Grand Champion.' Macci said that Gauff's speed and skills would make her a champion.

“Time dictates greatness. Time never lies. Time is on her side. With her sprinter speed bullet backhand and a backbone made of granite and lets plug in that extreme DNA athletic ability Coco Gauff in Time will Time and Time again be a multiple Grand Slam Champion. @CocoGauff,” Serena Williams' ex-coach wrote.

Just a few days after the aforementioned tweet, Macci again penned a note on X for Gauff that read:

“Her overall quickness is number One. Her make up speed is number One. Her backbone is number One. Her slice serve on the duce court is number One. Coming soon to a court near you Coco Gauff will be number One. @CocoGauff”

Rick Macci started coaching Serena Williams and Venus Williams in 1991 and mentored them until their father took over the coaching duties in 1995.
