Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian in attendance at NBA Cup final; American shows his support to Giannis Antetokounmpo
Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian was in attendance for the NBA Cup final clash between the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder. The American also extended his support to Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo after the game.
Bucks squared off against the Thunder for Cup supremacy on Tuesday, December 17 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Oklahoma-based side entered the clash as favorites having been the most dominant team from the Western Conference. However, the Bucks put on a performance when it mattered, beating their opponents, 97-81, to win the second NBA in-season tournament. Antetokounmpo, who earned the NBA Cup Most Valuable Player award, played a key role in securing the win.
Ohanian enjoyed the actions unfolding at the T-Mobile Arena from courtside. The Reddit co-founder shared a picture on social media of the Bucks teammates sharing a moment together on the court.
"Let's go. #NBACup," Ohanian wrote on X.
Ohanian also acknowledged Antetokounmpo for earning the MVP award after the match.
"Enjoy it @giannis_an34 NBA CUP MVP," Serena Williams' husband wrote on his Instagram stories.
Giannis Antetokounmpo secured a triple-double with 26 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists in the final. He became just the second player after LeBron James to have earned a regular season, All-Star Game and finals MVP, along with the NBA Cup title and MVP. The 30-year-old acquired league MVP honors in 2018 and 2019, and won the all-star game and finals MVP in 2021.
Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian suggests why he made the biggest donation in UVA women's basketball history
Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian recently made a huge donation to the University of Virginia women's basketball program. While the exact amount is unknown, the announcement divulged that it was the biggest ever in UVA women's basketball history.
Ohanian is a 2005 graduate of the University of Virginia. It was also in the same year that the American entrepreneur founded the social media platform Reddit, alongside Steve Huffman and Aaron Swartz. They sold Reddit to Conde Nast Publications a year later. In a post shared online, Ohanian emphasized that the money is coming back to the university through his donation.
"Started @REDDIT at @UVA and after $RDDT IPO the dollars are coming back home to CVille (Charlottesville)," Ohanian wrote on X.
Ohanian's contributions to the UVA program mark his first major entry into basketball. He has already invested in soccer through NWSL team Angel City FC and women-only track events through the Athlos NYC meet.
