Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian pokes fun at Drake over Kendrick Lamar controversy amid bad blood between him & Canadian rapper
Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian took a cheeky dig at Drake as tensions escalated between the Canadian singer and American rapper Kendrick Lamar. After over a decade of hostilities, their feud intensified recently when Drake pursued legal action against Lamar.
Drake and Kendrick Lamar's beef reached new heights earlier this year when they traded several diss tracks with increasingly personal and vicious attacks. Lamar emerged as the perceived victor in the exchange, as his hit track 'Not Like Us' gained immense popularity for its cutting lyrics.
The feud recently took a legal turn after Drake's lawyers filed a petition in New York, alleging that the Universal Music Group and Spotify had "conspired to artificially inflate the spread of Not Like Us" with the use of bots.
A day later, the Canadian filed a separate legal action in Texas and accused the Universal Music Group of defamation, claiming that Lamar's hit 'Not Like Us' had "falsely accused him of being a sex offender."
Amid the drama, Merriam-Webster's social media handle took a jab at Drake by joking that, contrary to rumors, the Canadian hadn't sued them over Kendrick Lamar's use of the English language in "Not Like Us."
Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, who had firmly declared his allegiance to Lamar in the thick of the diss track battles, poked fun at Drake by resharing Merriam-Webster's post.
"The rumors are NOT true. Drake is not suing us because Kendrick used English words in "Not Like Us."
Alexis Ohanian's stance against Drake comes as no surprise given their history of bad blood. In 2022, the Canadian called out Serena Williams in his song 'Middle of the Ocean' by labeling her husband a "groupie."
"Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie/He claim we don't got a problem but/No, boo, it is, like you comin' for sushi/We might pop up on 'em at will like Suzuki," Drake rapped.
Ohanian, however, wasn't fazed by Drake's dig, as he proudly embraced the tag of being the "best groupie" for the 23-time Grand Slam champion and their daughter Olympia.
"If I've learned anything, not a single one of us should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar" - Serena Williams takes a jab at Drake
Serena Williams has joined her husband Alexis Ohanian in poking fun at Drake amid his feud with Kendrick Lamar. While hosting the ESPYs earlier this year, the former World No. 1 quipped that picking a fight with Kendrick Lamar was a mistake no one should make.
Williams also joked that Lamar's diss tracks would cause Drake to get a hostile reception at his hometown team, the Toronto Raptors' NBA games. She capped it off by humorously crip-walking to 'Not Like Us' on stage.
"And if I've learned anything this year, not a single one of us, not even me, should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar. He will make your hometown not like you," Serena Williams said. "The next time Drake sits courtside at a Raptors game, they're gonna Forrest Gump him, seats taken."
More recently, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian shared a cheeky reaction to Kendrick Lamar playing 'Not Like Us' four times during his concert. He posted a clip of the late Kobe Bryant to convey the sentiment that Drake had been "beaten" soundly in the feud.
