Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian sends bold message to "haters" after co-produced 'The Offseason' show blows past 100 million views
Serena Williams' husband and Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian recently celebrated a milestone as his co-produced National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) show The Offseason FC surpassed 100 million views. While celebrating the achievement, Ohanian took a subtle jab at haters.
Ohanian and NJ/NY Gotham FC forward Midge Purce co-produced the series, which follows 11 NWSL players training together in Miami during the 2024 off-season. The show spotlights several prominent NWSL players, including former NJ/NY Gotham FC player Taylor Smith, along with Houston Dash's Michelle Alozie and Paige Nielson.
The X exclusive series has gained traction from the start. Ohanian celebrated in awe after the premiere of its first episode on October 18, garnered over 10 million views.
Four episodes have been released so far and the series has now crossed 100 million views. The latest episode alone has already amassed 63.8 million views and counting. Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian celebrated the achievement on X with a bold message directed at critics.
"DAMN. @OffseasonFC has BLOWN PAST 100,000,000 views. The latest episode (ep 4) already has 63.8M views and counting and our website only recounts ever 24hrs so the 133M views is stale. LFG.Thanks to everyone who watched. And all the haters have a special place in my heart!" he wrote.
Alexis Ohanian along with Serena Williams has invested in an NWSL team the Angel City FC
Ohanian has consistently championed women's sports. In July 2020, he and his wife, Serena Williams, acquired a stake in NWSL club Angel City FC. Other prominent shareholders include Natalie Portman, Julie Uhrman, Kara Nortman, and Uzo Aduba.
Per his previous statements, Ohanian viewed women's soccer as an undervalued and under-supported sector with significant potential. He saw investing in the Angel City FC, as both a profitable opportunity and a chance to elevate women's sports visibility.
“Women’s soccer, in particular, I believed was tremendously under-resourced, under-marketed, undervalued, underappreciated, under-supported, the list goes on. I saw it first and foremost as a tremendous business opportunity. My north star here is quite simply that this is something that was so obviously good of an investment and I feel great all this other stuff has come from it,” Ohanian told Forbes in October 2022.
Alexis Ohanian has previously shared that a dare from his wife, Serena Williams, while watching the 2019 Women's World Cup final, prompted him to invest in Angel City FC.
Williams and Ohanian married in 2017 and welcomed their elder daughter, Olympia, two months before their wedding. The couple welcomed their younger daughter, Adira River, in August last year.
