Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian shares valuable parenting advice he received from former US President Barack Obama
Tennis legend Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian recently shared some valuable parenting advice he received from former US president Barack Obama.
Williams and Ohanian have been in a relationship since 2015. They married in November 2017 in New Orleans and welcomed their first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., the same year.
In an interview with E! News, Ohanian said that Obama advised him of the importance of being a good role model for his daughter.
"The man you are to your wife is man that your daughter is going to see and come to expect. So, remember every time you're with your wife, you are role-modeling that behavior not just for your daughter but for whoever she's going to get to know in her later life," he said in his best Obama impression.
"Having someone as special as Serena Williams as a partner is a consistent reminder of self-improvement" - Alexis Ohanian
In the same interview, Alexis Ohanian also discussed his relationship with Serena Williams and how she is a "constant reminder of self-improvement."
"Having someone as special as Serena [Williams] as a partner is a consistent reminder of self-improvement. I knew I have found someone I was going to spend the rest of my life with because she was someone who I knew I would never outgrow," Ohanian said.
He added:
"Here was something where I got to spend the rest of my life just trying to get better. Obviously, having a child with her is a cheat code, because you really understand the opportunity you have to speak all of that into someone who you want nothing more than the best for."
Ohanian went on to discuss investing in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) team Angel City FC. He and Serena Williams are co-owners of the club alongside Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain, and Eva Longoria, among others.
Billie Jean King also joined the ownership group in 2020.
The 39-year-old stated that he was "more than happy" to provide a platform, capital, team resources, and expertise to "help amazing women do great things."
"All they needed was a platform to really honor their greatness. This is the start of, I hope, many investments. Let me give my capital, my resources, my teams expertise to help amazing women do great things. I'm more than happy to ride those coattails," Ohanian said.
Olympia, along with her parents, became the youngest co-owner of a team in sporting history when she was named part-owner of Angel City FC.
