Day 10 of the 2024 Shanghai Masters will feature the other two men's quarterfinal encounters, with Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz headlining play. Fans will be treated to a special doubles exhibition match, starring tennis legend Roger Federer and local favorite Zhizhen Zhang in the day's final game.
Djokovic hasn’t played since his surprising loss at the US Open and has been in great shape in Shanghai. Though he faced a challenge in his opener against Alex Michelsen, he has since cruised through his matches against Flavio Cobolli and Roman Safiullin without dropping a set. His next opponent is Czech rising star Jakub Mensik, who has had a standout tournament, defeating top players like Andrey Rublev and Grigor Dimitrov. Mensik, however, has played five consecutive three-set matches, which may test his endurance.
Taylor Fritz, who has also yet to lose a set this week, will face Belgian veteran David Goffin. Fritz looked dominant in his last match, dropping just three games in a decisive win over Holger Rune. On the other hand, Goffin has impressed with victories over Lorenzo Musetti and Marcos Giron, and most recently in the previous round by defeating Alexander Zverev.
Federer will return to court after nearly two years in the exhibition doubles match, partnering with local E. Chan against the Chinese duo of Zhizhen Zhang and Fan Zhendong.
