Six Kings Slam 2024: Men's draw, schedule, players, prize money breakdown and more
The Six Kings Slam is set to bring together some of the biggest names in tennis for an extravagant sporting fiesta in Saudi Arabia from October 16-19, 2024. Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, the two giants of the sport, lead the field for this new exhibition event.
This will be the penultimate pitstop for Nadal before he calls time on his career at the Davis Cup Finals in November. He announced his retirement last week and is set to end to a glittering career that lasted for two decades.
This tournament will also mark the last time that Nadal will share the court with Djokovic. The Spaniard's retirement has added another layer of excitement around the Six Kings Slam, so here are all the details about the upcoming event:
What is the Six Kings Slam?
It is the inaugural edition of an exhibition tournament to be held in the capital city of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. The country's foray into tennis continues with this latest venture. They're also set to host the WTA Finals later this year, and the Next Gen ATP Finals have been held here since last year as well.
Venue
The Six Kings Slam will be held at The Venue in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which has a capacity of 8,000 spectators.
Draw and Players
Nadal and Djokovic are the two main headliners but the star-studded field also features four of the biggest names in the sport right now. Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune complete the six-man field at the event.
Nadal and Djokovic have received a bye into the semifinals. The other four players will duke it out in the quarterfinals for a chance to go toe-to-toe with the two legends of the sport.
Sinner and Medvedev will square off in the first quarterfinal, with the winner setting up a date with Djokovic. Alcaraz and Rune will lock horns in the other quarterfinal, with Nadal awaiting the winner of that match.
Schedule
The Six Kings Slam will be held over a course of four days. The quarterfinals will take place on Wednesday, October 16, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, October 17. Friday will be a day of rest for the players.
According to ATP rules, players cannot compete for three straight days during an exhibition event. The championship match will be held on Saturday, October 19. There will also be another match to decide the outcome of the third place.
Prize Money and Ranking Points
Since this is an exhibition event, there are no ranking points up for grabs. However, the winner will receive a $6 million payout, the largest in the history of tennis. Each player will also earn a minimum of $1.5 million for participating, with the potential to up the tally depending on their results.
Where to watch
The streaming company, DAZN, has secured the rights to broadcast the Six Kings Slam. No other alternative has been finalized as of now.
