Six Kings Slam Prize Money: How long did Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz play to earn $6M & $1.5M
Jannik Sinner secured a massive $6 million in prize money after defeating arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz in an electrifying three-set final at the inaugural 2024 Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday night. Alcaraz, meanwhile, earned $1.5 million for his performance over the four-day exhibition event.
The inaugural edition of the Six Kings Slam delivered on its promise of tantalizing tennis, with the world's top stars putting on a show. Sinner and Alcaraz both cruised through their openers over Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune to set up blockbuster semifinals against legends Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
In a rematch of their Shanghai final, Sinner once again overcame Djokovic, but this time in a tighter three-set battle. Alcaraz, in an emotional clash, defeated his compatriot and idol Nadal, who is set to retire at the end of the season.
In the Six Kings Slam final, Sinner avenged his 0-3 record against Alcaraz this season, coming from behind to win 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3 and claim the championship. Djokovic defeated Nadal 6-2, 7-6(5) in the third-place match, marking the end of the Big 3 rivalry in the sport.
Despite the event offering no ranking points, the stakes were high, with lucrative prize money on the line.
Sinner, who spent a total of 357 minutes on court across his three matches, walked away with an astonishing $6 million in prize money. To put that in context, that is twice the amount awarded to the winners of both the Australian Open and the French Open, and nearly $2 million more than the winner's prize at Wimbledon and the US Open.
He earned $3.15 million at the Australian Open and $3.6 million in New York, a total of $12,032,935 for the year. His $6 million win in Riyadh accounts for nearly 50% of his entire earnings this year.
Losing finalist Alcaraz, who spent 291 minutes on court across his three matches at the Six Kings Slam, earned $1.5 million. Alcaraz had previously won €2.4 million for his triumph in Paris and £2.7 million at Wimbledon, and a total of $9,036,407 earned this year. The $1.5 million prize from Riyadh is about one-eighth of his total prize money for the year.
How much did Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal earn at Six Kings Slam 2024
Djokovic and Nadal each walked away with $1.5 million from the Six Kings Slam exhibition, the same amount earned by Alcaraz, Medvedev, and Rune. The amount was automatically earned by all six players for their participation alone.
Djokovic spent a total of 238 minutes on the court across his two matches against Sinner and Nadal. While Nadal clocked 169 minutes against Alcaraz and Djokovic.
Djokovic and Nadal's match held special significance as it marked the final chapter of their nearly 20-year rivalry, which spanned a record 61 matches. Nadal recently announced his decision to retire at the end of the season, with the Davis Cup being his final event. Since Djokovic's Serbia isn't participating, this exhibition essentially served as their last dance.
The two last met in a competitive match at the Paris Olympics earlier this year, where Djokovic secured the win, further tilting their head-to-head in his favor at 31-29.
