Stefanos Tsitsipas trolls Paula Badosa’s baseline play in BJK Cup Finals training, girlfriend responds

In a playful exchange, Stefanos Tsitsipas teased his girlfriend Paula Badosa by joking about her baseline play, saying she does not have to "pay tolls" to approach the net. The Spaniard responded by sharing an image of herself playing closer to the net.

Spain's tennis federation's X account posted a video of Badosa practicing from the baseline ahead of their Billie Jean King Cup Finals campaign. Tsitsipas reshared the post writing in Badosa's native Spanish:

"Did you know that you don't have to pay tolls to get close to the network?" (Translated from Spanish)

The 26-year-old enjoyed her boyfriend's lighthearted comment as she replied with several laughing emojis. In another reply, Badosa shared an image of herself playing much closer to the net.

Badosa and Tsitsipas, fondly known as 'Tsitsidosa,' began dating in 2023, quickly capturing fans' attention with their playful social media exchanges. After a brief breakup in May this year, the couple rekindled their romance and even made a strong impression on the court together.

Paula Badosa managed two semifinal runs in as many events during the Asian swing. She had to retire from her semifinal against Daria Kasatkina in Ningbo and later announced the end of her season by withdrawing from the Japan Open.

In a statement, the Spaniard expressed pride in her 2024 season and hoped to recover quickly to represent her country at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.

"I'm very proud of myself. I'm back where I wanted to be and where I was aiming since my comeback. (one of the best players in the world again) Already looking forward to recover well and prepare to represent my country in Malaga for BJKC. Thank you for the support always. See you soon," Paula Badosa wrote on her Instagram Story.

She will be joined by Jessica Bouzas, Nuria Parrizas Diaz, Cristina Bucsa and Sara Sorribes Tormo as Spain faces Poland in the Round of 16 this week. The winner of their match will face Czech Republic in the quarterfinal.

Meanwhile, Stefanos Tsitsipas has traveled to Turin as an alternate, along with Grigor Dimitrov, for the ATP Finals. The Greek had qualified for the year-end Championships for five consecutive years but could not do so this year.

The 2024 ATP Finals features Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Alex de Minaur, Casper Ruud, Taylor Fritz, Andrey Rublev, and Alexander Zverev.
