"Stefanos Tsitsipas is not doing well, I've told him off" - Paula Badosa on 'pressuring' boyfriend to learn Spanish
Paula Badosa shared one of the most basic problems she and Stefanos Tsitispas go through as a couple. One of the most notable tennis couples has been in a relationship for quite some time now and often gives their fans behind-the-scenes insights into life on Tour.
During her latest interview with Eurosport, the Spaniard opened up about her relationship with Tsitsipas.
Addressing any possible communication gaps, given that they come from different countries and cultural backgrounds, Badosa revealed that they have been trying to learn each others’ first languages.
The 26-year-old joked about Tsitsipas doing poorly with his Spanish, saying that she has been pressuring him to learn the language. She revealed that the Greek has agreed to travel with a Spanish language coach next year.
"He is not doing well, he has surprised me badly," Paula Badosa said. "I have told him off. And he has asked me for Greek!"
"I am putting pressure on him. He says that next year he is going to travel with a teacher who speaks Spanish to him," she added.
Paula Badosa went on to say that she and Tsitsipas complement each other well, before pointing out her boyfriend’s penchant for social media.
"It's a mix of everything. He also loves photography and I love posing," the Spanaird said. "He likes to joke around and have fun on social media. It's a very nice relationship."
"We understand each other well" - Paula Badosa on sharing goals with boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas
Paula Badosa also spoke about what it was like to date a fellow tennis player, saying she and Stefanos Tsitsipas shared the same goals and dedication, which helped build a “healthy” relationship.
Communication and awareness, she said, were very important to ensure that the relationship stays strong when both people are involved with a demanding individual sport like tennis.
"We understand each other well, we're dedicated to the same thing, we have the same goals," Badosa said. "We have a very healthy relationship, and it's not easy because we're two athletes..."
"You have to be very aware of your own thing, but we're able to empathize and listen to each other , which isn't easy when you're dedicated to an individual sport," she added.
While Badosa ended her 2024 season during the Asian swing after making the Ningbo Open semifinal (she later withdrew from the Japan Open), Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently in Turin as the second alternate for the 2024 ATP Finals.
