Sumit Nagal Upcoming Tournament: When and where will the Indian player be in action next?
Indian tennis ace Sumit Nagal is gearing up for his next challenge at the Stockholm Open in Sweden, scheduled to start on Monday, October 14. Nagal, currently ranked 83rd in the ATP rankings, will face off against French player Quentin Halys in the Round of 32 on Tuesday, October 15. Both players are unseeded in this ATP 250 event, which takes place at the Kungliga Tennishallen.
Quentin Halys, ranked 100th in the world, presents an opportunity for Nagal to get back on track after a difficult run of form.
Sumit Nagal’s recent form
Since his first-round exit at the Paris Olympics 2024, Sumit Nagal has struggled to find consistent success. Following his Olympic campaign, Nagal participated in the Cincinnati Masters, where he lost in the qualifiers to USA’s Mackenzie McDonald. His next outing at the Winston-Salem Open ended in the Round of 64, where he was beaten by Croatia’s Borna Ćorić.
At the US Open, Nagal was once again knocked out in the first round, losing to Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor. His struggles continued as he was forced to withdraw from the Davis Cup tie against Sweden in September due to a back strain, which also led him to skip the Hangzhou Open.
Nagal returned to action at the China Open in late September but exited in the qualifiers after a defeat to sixth-seeded Pavel Kotov. His latest setback came at the Shanghai Masters earlier this month, where he lost in the Round of 128 to China’s Wu Yibing.
With a series of early exits behind him, Sumit Nagal will be looking to turn his fortunes around at the Stockholm Open. Facing a lower-ranked opponent in Quentin Halys, Nagal has a golden opportunity to regain momentum and make a deeper run in the tournament. A strong performance here could give him a much-needed confidence boost heading into the latter stages of the tennis season.
