Elina Svitolina was honored with a special commemorative plaque earlier this month from her country's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in recognition of her remarkable contributions to the Russia-Ukraine war-relief efforts.

Life has been incredibly taxing for Svitolina since the city of Odessa in southern Ukraine became the target of relentless bombing. This is the city where her family still resides; her parents were able to escape the country, but her grandmother remains in the city, desperately trying to stay safe from the devastating attacks.

The former World No. 3 was appointed as the ambassador of United24, a platform dedicated to helping fundraise for those in need. She has been a driving force in raising funds for medical professionals, supplies, and modern medical equipment to support her home country of Ukraine.

For her remarkable accomplishments, the Ukrainian tennis star was felicitated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Taking to social media to express her gratitude, she shared a few photos of herself with the commemorative plaque.

"Together towards victory - Разом до перемоги 🙏🏼🇺🇦✊🏼 @u24.gov.ua," she captioned her Instagram post.
