Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Morgan Riddle consoles American after heartbreaking US Open final loss to Jannik Sinner
Taylor Fritz's inspired run at the 2024 US Open came to an end on Sunday, with the American falling in the final to Jannik Sinner. Coming in as the massive underdog, Fritz couldn't do much to trouble the World No. 1 and ended up falling in straight sets on the night in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Playing in his maiden Grand Slam final, nerves for the American No. 1 were evident from the get-go. Although he got better as the match progressed, Sinner proved to be too good for him at the end of the day, taking the win 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 to win his second Grand Slam title and first in New York.
Fritz appeared visibly shaken after the loss and broke down in tears on his bench after the result. His girlfriend Morgan Riddle, who was supporting him from the stands during the night as well as throughout the fortnight, quickly took to Instagram to post a message of consolation and appreciation for the 26-year-old.
Riddle hailed Fritz as a source of inspiration for her and congratulated him on the 'amazing week' he has had at Flushing Meadows regardless of the loss in the final. She also promised him that she would remain his biggest fan, adding a photo of the American with the runner-up trophy from the presentation ceremony.
"What an amazing week. @taylor_fritz could not be more proud of you and grateful to support you. your dedication and drive inspires me so much every day. forever your biggest fan," Riddle wrote.
Taylor Fritz and Morgan Riddle began dating in 2020 and have been together since. Riddle has become a staple in the World No. 12's player box, often accompanying him to tournaments around the globe while also promoting the sport as a social media influencer.
