Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Morgan Riddle hilariously reacts as he secures a follow from ESPN upon reaching US Open final days after announcing "beef"
Taylor Fritz reached the US Open final and secured a follow from ESPN after announcing a 'beef' with them. His girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, hilariously reacted to the situation.
Before the US Open commenced, Riddle took to Instagram to share a funny story. She mentioned that Fritz was unhappy because ESPN had followed her but did not follow him. She wrote:
“Taylor’s mad tonight because ESPN followed me on Instagram and doesn’t follow him.”
After Fritz put up some impressive performances to reach the fourth round of the event without losing a set, ESPN congratulated him on their X for becoming the first American male player to reach the second week at all four Majors in a year since Andre Agassi in 2003. He reposted the tweet and joked that they had 'beef'.
"🔥 Love the shoutout from @espn but you follow my gf and not me on insta so we have beef," Fritz tweeted.
On Friday, September 6, Fritz reached his maiden Grand Slam final by defeating Frances Tiafoe in a grueling five-setter 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 and also secured a follow from ESPN.
Riddle took to Instagram to celebrate Fritz’s achievements. She reposted the US Open’s official Reel showcasing the American’s reaction to winning the semifinal.
In another Story, she shared an image showing ESPN's account among Fritz's Instagram followers. She captioned it:
"Proud of you Taylor Fritz"
Fritz will take on World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the men's singles final of the 2024 US Open.
Taylor Fritz's US Open heroics help him become first American man to reach a Grand Slam singles final since Andy Roddick in 2009
With the all-American semifinal between Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe at the US Open, the winner was set to be the first American man to reach a Grand Slam singles final since Andy Roddick at Wimbledon in 2009.
Fritz won the match and will seek to end USA's 21-year wait for a male Grand Slam singles champion. The last American man to do so was Roddick at the 2003 US Open.
Fritz faces a huge task as he goes up against World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the final. However, during his post-match press conference, he was confident of not facing as stressful a situation as he was in against Tiafoe.
"I've always enjoyed playing him (Sinner). To be honest, I don't think I'm going to be put in a more stressful situation than I was today," Fritz told reporters.
"I think today was much more stressful than me playing the final. I just feel good. I have a feeling I'm going to come out and play really well and win."
Sinner and Fritz will grace the Arthur Ashe Stadium for the championship match on Sunday, September 9.
