Taylor Fritz faces Arthur Fils in Japan Open 1R
World No. 7 Taylor Fritz will be participating in the 2024 Japan Open as the top seed. In the first round, he will face France's Arthur Fils.
Fritz is currently enjoying one of his most successful seasons on Tour. He has reached four finals this year and won two titles. He lifted the trophy at the Delray Beach Open before earning his third title in Eastbourne.
At Grand Slams, Fritz has reached the second week of all our Majors in 2024, becoming the first American since Andre Agassi in 2003 to achieve this feat. Moreover, at the US Open, he became the first American man to reach a Major singles final in 15 years.
However, Fritz could not end the USA's 21-year wait for a men's singles champion as Jannik Sinner defeated him.
Fils, on the other hand, is also on the rise this season on tour. The 20-year-old won the title in Hamburg earlier this year, only his second on Tour.
Fritz, a former Japan Open winner, will take on Fils for the first time ever at the event in Tokyo.
