Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Morgan Riddle seemingly taking a dig at Alexander Zverev's domestic abuse allegations resurfaced after Fritz defeated the German in the quarterfinals of the 2024 US Open. This victory marked the second time Fritz had faced Zverev in a Grand Slam tournament this year, winning both encounters.

Fritz is seeded 12th at Flushing Meadows and secured wins over Camilo Ugo Carabelli 7-5, 6-1, 6-2 and Matteo Berrettini 6-3, 7-6(1), 6-1 in the first and second rounds, respectively. He then triumphed over Francisco Comesana 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the third round and eighth seed Casper Ruud 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 in the fourth round. In the quarterfinals, the former World No.5 defeated the fourth seed, Alexander Zverev 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(3) to advance to his first Major semifinal.

Following Taylor Fritz's victory over Zverev, a video posted by his girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, resurfaced. The video was originally shared by Riddle after his win over Zverev in the fourth round of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, with the caption:

"Cheer loud ladies. When ur man wins 4 the girls."

The video was perceived as a veiled reference to Alexander Zverev's domestic abuse allegations. However, Morgan Riddle later deleted the video and clarified that it was misinterpreted and emphasized that her posts were not related to anything beyond the tennis court.

During his post-match on-court interview after reaching the semifinals at the 2024 US Open, Taylor Fritz expressed that he was feeling "amazing." He mentioned that while he had previously reached the quarterfinals at Majors, he had struggled to progress further. He stated that he was glad that he was finally able to overcome this hurdle at the US Open, especially in front of his home crowd .

“I feel amazing. I’ve had a lot of looks at quarter-finals in the past couple of years, and today just felt different. I really feel that it was my time to take a step further and it’s only fitting I’m doing it here on this court at the [US] Open in front of this crowd,” Fritz said.

The former World No.5 shared that he had made several changes to his game. He said that he was happy that those changes had ultimately paid off.

“I’ve worked on adding so much to my game. I feel like my forehand and backhand have kind of always been there, but I’m trying to come to the net a little bit, trying to mix in some drop shots, just trying to add stuff to my game so I can back up my serve in better,” he added.

Looking ahead, Taylor Fritz will face compatriot and 20th seed Frances Tiafoe in the semifinals of the 2024 US Open.
