The fourth round of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships will have two big ball strikers — Taylor Fritz and Alex Zverev — lock horns in an exciting encounter. The duo have had similarly dominant roads leading up to this point.
Fritz has dropped only one set in the three matches that he has played at this year’s Wimbledon.
The American opened his campaign with a straight-sets win over Christopher O'Connell, only to face more resistance from Arthur Rinderknech in the second round. He overcame a slight stumble in the middle of the match to close out the win in four sets.
Fritz was back to playing his best tennis in the third round, brushing aside the challenge from Alejandro Tabilo in three keenly contested sets.
Zverev, meanwhile, raced his way into the third round with straight-set wins over Roberto Carballes Baena and Marcos Giron.
The German came up against a tough challenge from home favorite Cameron Norrie but managed to come through unscathed. He won in three tight sets.
Zverev has already matched his best performance with his fourth-round showing. He will be keen to break past the barrier this year and ride the winning momentum deeper into the tournament.
Fritz, meanwhile, has reached the quarterfinal at Wimbledon on one prior occasion — in 2022.
