A look into Taylor Fritz's performance in US Open 2023
Taylor Fritz had a remarkable run at the 2023 US Open, reaching his first quarterfinal at the tournament.
However, the home-favorite faced the ultimate challenge in the last eight when he took on the World No. 1 and eventual champion Novak Djokovic, who was chasing a record 24th Major title.
Fritz had never beaten Djokovic in seven previous meetings and this time was no exception as the Serb won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, ending the American's run at Flushing Meadows.
Despite the loss, Fritz had an impressive performance at the New York Slam as he won four matches without dropping a set. He defeated Steve Johnson, Juan Pablo Varillas, Jakub Mensik, and Dominic Stricker en route to his second Grand Slam quarterfinal.
Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev in the championship match, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, to claim his fourth US Open title.
