"This looks promising" - Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian applauds CVC Capital Partners for investing in WTA

Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian recently praised CVC Capital Partners for their $150 million (£125 million) investment in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).

CVC Capital Partners' strategic move is a significant step towards elevating the profile of women's tennis and accelerating commercial growth for the benefit of fans, players, and tournaments.

After nearly two years of discussion, the WTA has formed a partnership with the capital venture firm. This collaboration will involve the establishment of a new company that will oversee the broadcasting and marketing operations of women's tennis.

Alexis Ohanian expressed his admiration for CVC Capital Partners' recent move. On March 8, he took to Twitter to convey his appreciation for the esteemed capital venture firm.

"This looks promising! @cvc_capital holler at me!" Ohanian tweeted.

In February, Ohanian expressed his unwavering support for the 23-time Grand Slam champion, referring to her as his 'ride or die' in an interview. The couple met in May of 2015 in Rome and got engaged in 2016. They had their daughter Olympia Ohanian in 2017 and got married later that year.

During the interview, Williams shared her retirement plans, discussed her successful business ventures, and expressed her joy at spending time with her family. Ohanian briefly joined in the conversation to speak about his wife.

When the interviewer asked the couple how they worked so well together, Ohanian waxed lyrical about Serena Williams and said:

“I knew I had met someone that I was never going to outgrow and more importantly, I knew I had met someone who was always going to explicitly, believe me sometimes or implicitly challenge me to be better. She’s a ride or die and you all don’t see a lot of it because thankfully it'll do my work in public.”

Serena Williams and Reddit co-founder Ohanian's first meeting in 2015 was a mere coincidence. She asked him out on a date, following which he saw the former World No.1 in action at the 2015 French Open.

When Ohanian met the tennis superstar, he was not a fan of the sport and had never watched a single match. However, since meeting her, he has been spotted in the crowd supporting his wife.
