"Time flies"- Andrey Rublev gets emotional after fan-made tribute video ft. Taylor Swift's 'You're On Your Own, Kid'

Andrey Rublev recently shared his reaction to an emotional tribute video created by a fan for him after the conclusion of the 2023 Australian Open.

Andrey Rublev made his second Australian Open quarterfinal at the recently concluded Grand Slam tournament. He had an impressive and fairly untroubled run before he had to face youngster Holger Rune in the fourth round.

A five-set encounter, the match ended with the Russian prevailing at the end of three hours and 39 minutes. With the scoreline reading 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(9), the match was a thrilling and close contest, made even more dramatic by a lucky net cord that gave the Russian the win.

Despite the World No.5's vow to fight for every ball against Novak Djokovic in the next match, he lost in straight sets. The heartbreaking loss prompted one of his fans to create a moving tribute to the Russian.

Set against the backdrop of the song 'You're On Your Own, Kid' by Taylor Swift, the video chronicles Rublev's journey from his childhood to the present day. The video masterfully presents the 25-year-old's evolution from a junior tennis player to him winning titles as a professional.

The song in particular is a very apt choice as the lyrics read, "I gave my blood, sweat and tears for this." This is especially poignant in Rublev's case as he is known for his emotional outbursts on the court, and has even spoken about his efforts to keep up a calmer demeanor during matches.

The effects of the tearjerking video were not lost on the Russian himself as he shared the post to his Instagram story, commenting on the fleeting nature of time.

"Time flies," the World No. 5 wrote.

The video follows a similar tribute video made for Novak Djokovic chronicling his journey to winning the 2023 Australian Open, set against the same song.
