Tommy Paul's girlfriend Paige Lorenze pens emotional message about overcoming her struggle with self-worth issues and 'unhealthy relationships'
Tommy Paul's girlfriend, Paige Lorenze, has penned an emotional message about battling her issues with her self-worth. Lorenze also shed light on her journey of coming to the realization that her sense of self was rooted in how she perceived herself, rather than other people's opinions.
Paige Lorenze, who is a popular social media influencer, has become a familiar face in Tommy Paul's player's box, cheering him on at tournaments all around the world. The couple celebrated their second anniversary earlier this year, with Lorenze crediting the World No. 12 for being her rock and constantly "inspiring and encouraging" her.
Lorenze recently took to social media and opened up about her personal growth in the past five months. The 26-year-old disclosed that she previously hadn't taken the time to prioritize her self-worth and self-confidence, which caused her immense "pain" in her early 20s.
"I don't know if it's just part of maturing and getting older, but over the past five months, I've grown into myself in a way that feels so different. I've honestly always been fairly confident, but it wasn't until recently that I've started to truly understand what self worth was," Lorenze wrote.
"I didn't realize before that self worth and self confidence are so different. I confused the two and didn't take the time to work on both, which caused me a lot of pain in my early 20s," she added.
Lorenze explained that lack of self-worth often manifested in harmful patterns like "unhealthy relationships," people-pleasing, and overthinking, and shared that she had made a lot of progress on dealing with those issues.
"Lack of self worth can show up in so many ways. Unhealthy relationships, maintaining friendships with people who are mean to you, people-pleasing, or overanalyzing comments and situations you can't control," Tommy Paul's girlfriend posted.
"I've personally made so much progress on all of these. But most importantly, I finally learned that self worth is about knowing your value beyond how others perceive you, and that's something I've honestly struggled with for so long," she added.
The 26-year-old also admitted that when she started her career as a social media influencer, she wanted to be liked and understood by everyone but soon realized that it was an unrealistic goal. Lorenze emphasized that letting go of those expectations had been the most freeing experience of her life, allowing her to achieve more success and block out the negativity.
"But that's not life! Self worth doesn't come from being understood by others, it comes from your relationship with yourself and what's inside. Learning this has been the most important and freeing experience for me in my mid twenties and has allowed me to not only to grow a lot, but also just have more success in what I do it has also made the noise and negativity so much easier to block out," she wrote.
Tommy Paul's girlfriend Paige Lorenze: "I've finally been able to focus on the things that truly bring me happiness"
Tommy Paul's girlfriend, Paige Lorenze, further disclosed that working on herself had helped her prioritize the things that truly brought her joy and appreciate her blessings in life.
"Through this personal work I've done, that's still in progress, I've finally been able to focus on the things that truly bring me happiness and feel grateful for all the blessings in my life. And the more I've focused on those blessings, the more blessings have come," Tommy Paul's girlfriend wrote.
The 26-year-old expressed gratitude to fans for the "huge impact" their kind and positive words had on her. Lorenze also shared valuable advice for those struggling with their self-worth, encouraging them to be patient with themselves.
"And lastly if you're reading this and struggling with self worth, I want you to know you're not alone. My biggest advice would be to focus on yourself: on your work, vou passions your passions," she posted.
"Don't be afraid to do the hard work whether that means talking to a therapist, finding faith in whatever form that means for you, or getting serious about building the life you want. And most importantly, give yourself time," she added.
Tommy Paul, meanwhile, has been preparing for the 2025 season with intense training sessions, even sharing a shirtless picture showcasing his progress with his girlfriend Paige Lorenze's approval.
