The American, seeded fourth, got a bye in the opening round following which he ousted Laslo Djere to kick off his campaign. He then defeated Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarterfinals and scored a big win against a resurging Stan Wawrinka in the semifinals to reach his fourth final of the year.
