US Open 2024: Complete list of men's and women's singles wildcards ft. Naomi Osaka, Dominic Thiem & more
Grand Slam champions Naomi Osaka, Dominic Thiem, Stan Wawrinka, and Bianca Andreescu headline the list of wildcards for the US Open 2024. The season's final Major will take place in New York from August 26 to September 8.
All four have won the US Open in the past. Osaka has hoisted the winner's trophy twice, first in 2018 and followed it up with another triumph in 2020. Bianca Andreescu won in between in 2019, while Thiem was crowned as the champion in 2020.
Thiem is set to call it a time on his career after the Vienna Open later this year. Osaka's form these days is a far cry from what won her four Major titles. She recently lost in the qualifying rounds of the ongoing Cincinnati Open.
Andreescu, too, has been struggling and fell at the first hurdle in Cincinnati. Wawrinka, who won the US Open in 2016, his third and final Major title so far, is in a slump these days as well and has won only a handful of matches this year.
Amanda Anisimova recently made the final of the Canadian Open, her first at the WTA 1000 level. She went down to Jessica Pegula in the summit clash but eliminated four top 20 players before that. Her performance has earned her a main draw wildcard.
Anisimova's compatriots, Iva Jovic, McCartney Kessler, and Alexa Noel, all promising young talents, also received wildcards. Chloe Paquet and Taylah Preston round out the women's wildcard recipients.
On the men's side, Alexandre Muller, Tristan Schoolkate, along with Americans Christopher Eubanks, Zachary Svajda, Learner Tien, and Matthew Forbes are the other wildcard recipients. Here's the full list of singles wildcards:

Naomi Osaka to compete at the US Open for the first time since 2022
Naomi Osaka missed last year's US Open as she was on maternity leave. She will now compete at the venue for the first time since 2022 when she crashed out in the first round. It marked her earliest exit at the venue in her career.
As mentioned earlier, Osaka has triumphed in New York on two occasions in the past. She has a 22-5 record here, and except for her two title-winning runs, she has made the second week only once.
Osaka reached the fourth round in 2019 and has bowed out in the third round on three other occasions. Since her comeback this year, she hasn't advanced beyond the second round of any Major. She will aim to snap that trend at a venue where she has tasted considerable success.
