US Open 2024: Yuki Bhambri-Albano Olivetti lose to top-seeded Marcel Granollers-Horacio Zeballos in straight sets in round of 16
Yuki Bhambri and his French partner, Albano Olivetti, were ousted from the US Open 2024 in the men's doubles round of 16 after a straight-sets defeat to the top-seeded pair of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.
The Indian-French duo had made an impressive run to the pre-quarterfinals, including an impressive win over 15th seeds Austin Krajicek and Jean-Julien Roger in the previous round. However, their journey came to an abrupt end as Granollers and Zeballos proved too strong a challenge.
The match started with Granollers and Zeballos taking immediate control. They broke Bhambri and Olivetti’s serve early in the first set, establishing a lead that they would never relinquish.
The top seeds displayed excellent coordination and consistency, winning points with powerful serves and sharp volleys. Despite their best efforts, Bhambri and Olivetti struggled to keep up with the pace and precision of their opponents. The first set ended quickly in favor of Granollers and Zeballos, who won it 6-2.
