Andy Murray on competing at the French Open: "I'm proud of the results that I had here, I had great memories"
Following his defeat in the first round at the 2024 French Open against Stan Wawrinka, Andy Murray recalled his past performances at the clay-court Major, stating that he has done well and had good results in Paris over the years.
Despite this, he admitted that his achievements in at the clay court Major pale in comparison to those of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
"I did really well here over the years. You know, a lot of the results and stuff that I think the issue for me is that when you compare it to, like, what Rafa or Novak achieved in the same time, it obviously is minuscule in comparison," Murray said.
Murray also stated that despite losing to Wawrinka, Djokovic and Nadal over the years at the French Open, he is proud of the results he has had. The former World No.1 also revealed that he cherishes the memories he has created while competing at this Grand Slam tournament.
"I lost to Novak in five, Stan in five, and twice to Rafa. Obviously no shame in that. In a different time maybe the results would have been a bit different. But yeah, I'm proud of the results that I had here. I had great memories," Murray added.
The 37-year-old now has five wins out of 20 matches so far in the 2024 season.
