WATCH: Aryna Sabalenka and Mirra Andreeva get the giggles at WTL, refuse to explain why they cannot stop laughing
Aryna Sabalenka and Mirra Andreeva were seen sharing a hilarious moment at the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi on December 22, 2024. The duo is representing the TSL Hawks at the WTL.
Sabalenka had an incredible 2024 season as she ended her year as the world number one despite being eliminated at the WTA Finals in the semifinals. She reached this level after besting Qinwen Zheng and Jasmine Paolini and then squared off against Coco Gauff in the semifinals, where the American dominated and won with a score of 7-6(4), 6-3.
Sabalanka also won the Wuhan Open by defeating Qinwen Zheng in the final. Not just that, but she also triumphed at the US Open and the Australian Open in 2024. Currently, the Belarusian is competing in the WTL. A video of Sabalenka and Andreeva from their match against the Kites made rounds over the internet on December 21.
In the video, Sabalenka and Andreeva were seen sharing a laugh on the court, and when asked about it, they refused to reveal the reason in front of the interviewer.
"No, I'm not gonna tell you what's so funny. At some point we just couldn't hold it inside," Aryna Sabalenka said while laughing.
The Hawks emerged victoriously against the Kites, winning with a scoreline of 20-17.
Mirra Andreeva joked about learning dancing from Aryna Sabalenka
Aryna Sabalenka and Mirra Andreeva delivered exceptional performances at the World Tennis League while playing for the Hawks. During a post-match interview, the 17-year-old was asked if she had learned anything from the World No. 1. To this, Andreeva jokingly replied she has learned nothing but dance moves.
“I think I’ve learned some dance moves,” Andreeva replied with a smile. “Well, I don’t know. Nothing?” she laughed. “I don’t wanna say anything bad, but she’s good at dancing, so that’s what I’m learning right now, maybe if we spent a bit more time together,” Andreeva said (as quoted by tennisuptodate).
This interview was then interrupted by Sabalenka, who said while laughing:
"What was that about?"
Aryna Sabalenka has won a total of 17 singles and six doubles titles on the WTA Tour. Andreeva, on the other hand, won her first WTA title in Romania this year. She squared off in the final of the Iasi Open against Elina Avanesyan and won with a score of 5-7, 7-5, 4-0.
