Ben Shelton was recently caught in the lounge of Team Europe at the Laver Cup wearing a towel. The player has given hilarious reasoning for his act. He recently won the finals of the tournament against Danill Medvedev.
The American grabbed a dominant victory against Medvedev with a scoreline of 6-7(6), 7-5, 10-7. Before this match, Shelton lost the men's doubles match with Tiafoe against Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud. Team Europe won this match with a scoreline of 6-2, 7-6(6). However, the 21-year-old redeemed himself with his victorious delivery in the men's singles match on 22 September 2024.
Amidst this win, Shelton became the talk of the town because of a funny incident that was captured in Team Europe's lounge. The American was found draped in a towel and gave a hilarious reaction once the cameras were pointed at him. Laver Cup shared the video on their Instagram handle. The post's caption read:

Under this post, Shelton clarified his presence at the European team's lounge. He commented:
"Team Europe locker has the only ice bath😂😂😂 my bas (bad)."
Ben Shelton opened up about his win against Daniil Medvedev at the Laver Cup
The match between Ben Shelton and Daniil Medvedev on 22 September was a terrific showdown, as the very first set went into a tiebreaker. However, the American made a stronger comeback and dominated the next two sets, attaining a three-set win against the Russian tennis player.
Following this win, Shelton reflected upon his performance and called himself a "great server".
"I think for me it was really important to just stay loose in those moments, I know that I’m a great server, I know I can serve, play my way out of tight spots and I did a great job of that. When I got a little bit tight at certain points in the second set, I was like, ‘just hit a bomb’," said Shelton.
Before the Laver Cup, Shelton competed at the US Open 2024, where unfortunately he could only reach the third round. Here, he was bested by his American teammate Frances Tiafoe. The 21-year-old also reached the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters, where Alexander Zverev defeated him.
