Former World No. 1 Serena Williams was recently greeted with a hug by American rapper Cardi B after the latter's performance during the pre-Super Bowl concert.
Williams, 41, starred in Remy Martin's commercial for the 2023 Super Bowl. The American's 60-second ad was shown during the first quarter of the game.
Featuring for the French cognac house's, the 23-time Grand Slam singles winner expressed her "excitement" in an interview with PEOPLE. Speaking further about her participation in the project, Serena Williams stated how "honored" she was to be a part of the commercial.
"I am honored and excited to be able to work with Rémy Martin, whose core values are so similar to my own personal principles. Rémy Martin is a brand based on generosity, authenticity, and teamwork, all qualities that I have taken great strides to incorporate in my life and my career," Williams said.
In a press release, the CEO of Remy Martin showered praise on the seven-time Wimbledon champion.
"She is a global inspiration, and inch by inch, Williams and her team have made history by breaking down barriers, striving for excellence, and achieving greatness," said Jean-Philippe Hecquet.
In a video that is being circulated on social media, the tennis icon was seen sharing the stage with the Grammy Award-winning rapper. Following her performance, Cardi B went to the former tennis player and the duo shared a warm hug.
Serena Williams enjoyed the 2022 Super Bowl with her family
Tennis ace Serena Williams hung up her tennis boots last year following the 2022 US Open. The American announced her retirement from the sport through an article in Vogue Magazine. Following her retirement, the former World No. 1 has seemingly been enjoying her post-retirement life.
During the Super Bowl of 2022, Williams enjoyed the sporting event alongside her husband, Alexis Ohanian, their daughter and Ohanian's parents, Anke and Chris Ohanian.
As shared on social media, Williams enjoyed American actor Dwayne Johnson's cameo in the Super Bowl.
Man, the Rock got me out here wanting him to warm me up for my practice!" Williams wrote. "Yes, come out to my practice and do that. Definitely at my next match."
Williams earlier expressed her excitement at Rihanna's performance at the Super Bowl. Speaking about the song that made her cry, the American said:
I sure hope she (Rihanna) does [“Lift Me Up”]. It makes me cry every time. It’s such a good song."
