WATCH: Carlos Alcaraz hilariously attempts to swat away a bee during Queen's Club 2R in latest installment of insect drama

Carlos Alcaraz encountered a bee that invaded his second-round clash against Jack Draper at the Queen's Club Championships. The Spaniard eventually got rid of the bee while swatting it away.

Alcaraz recently clinched the French Open title after defeating Alexander Zverev 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in what was a grueling contest. Currently focused on his grass campaign, the Spaniard faced Jack Draper in the second round of the Queen's Club Championships but lost to the Brit 6-7, 3-6.

However, Draper was not the only opponent Alcaraz came across; a bee came in front of him during the course of the match and broke his focus. In a video posted by Tennis TV on X, the 21-year-old could be seen swatting the bee away, seemingly annoyed by the sudden disturbance. The commentators believed that it was a wasp, which interrupted the match.

Carlos Alcaraz eventually managed to get hold of the bee and throw it off the court in what commentators humorously described as a "grass court victory." Watch the video below:

This was not the first time that Alcaraz encountered a bee during a match. The Spaniard faced an even more challenging situation during his quarterfinal clash against Alexander Zverev at Indian Wells earlier this year when a swarm of bees interrupted the match, and one of them stung him. Subsequently, the match was delayed for one hour and 40 minutes, before Alcaraz eventually won 6-3, 6-1.

Following his emphatic triumph at the 2024 French Open, Carlos Alcaraz spent some time away in Ibiza with friends. In a press conference before the Queen's Club Championships, Alcaraz explained that separating his personal life from the sport helps him give his best on the court.

”I had a few days of vacation, with a group of friends. I had a good time celebrating Roland Garros. I need these things too. It is clear that each player is different, but for me, to have my best level I need to separate my personal life from tennis. Have my days off, be able to rest my mind, be with family and friends. Put the racket aside. It is a time that suits me very well" Alcaraz said. (via AS - translated from Spanish)

After a decent clay court campaign, Carlos Alcaraz will look to achieve a good build-up to the Wimbledon Championships and will aim to defend the title. The 21-year-old defeated Novak Djokovic last year and clinched his first grasscourt Major.
