WATCH: Carlos Alcaraz melts hearts with classy gesture for Australian Open worker
Carlos Alcaraz is gearing up for his highly anticipated campaign at the 2025 Australian Open, but he has attracted attention for more than just his tennis skills. The 21-year-old recently captured hearts with his gracious and thoughtful gesture for a worker at the Major.
Entering the Melbourne Slam as the third seed, Alcaraz is set to take on Alexander Shevchenko in his opening match. The Spaniard holds a 1-0 lead in their head-to-head record, having claimed a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory in their sole previous encounter at the 2024 Madrid Open.
Carlos Alcaraz has been hard at work ahead of his opening match. The 21-year-old was recently spotted in the Australian Open's common area laden with his training equipment as he greeted several people in the corridor. The five-time Grand Slam champion also made the classy gesture of holding the door open for a staff worker pushing a heavy equipment trolley.
Alcaraz has been open about his ambition to win his maiden Australian Open title and complete the coveted career Grand Slam at this year's event. The World No. 3 even detailed his intention to commemorate his potential victory with a "kangaroo" tattoo, continuing his tradition of getting special ink to mark his first victory at each Major.
"I have it in mind, I have in mind to get a tattoo of the kangaroo," Alcaraz told Marca. "The goal is to complete the 'Grand Slam' in Melbourne."
