Just like last year, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka will battle it out for the year-end World No. 1 ranking at the WTA Finals. However, this time, the odds are highly in favor of the Belarusian.

Current World No. 1 Sabalenka has been drawn in the Purple Group with Elena Rybakina, Jasmine Paolini, and Zheng Qinwen. World No. 2 Swiatek has been drawn in the Orange Group with Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and Barbora Krejcikova.

The year-end World No. 1 ranking will be decided in Riyadh, with Sabalenka (9016 points) and Swiatek (7970 points) vying for the top spot. Sabalenka can clinch the Year-End No. 1 ranking by winning all three round-robin matches, by winning two and reaching the final, or by winning one and still reaching the final.

Iga Swiatek, meanwhile, must win the title to contend for No. 1. If Swiatek loses one round-robin match, Sabalenka only needs two round-robin wins; if Swiatek loses two, Sabalenka would need just one round-robin win to secure the ranking.

The group stage of the WTA Finals kicks off on Saturday, November 2, with Aryna Sabalenka taking on Zheng Qinwen and Jasmine Paolini facing Elena Rybakina.
