WATCH: John McEnroe hilariously recreates iconic 'You cannot be serious!' line in latest appearance on 'Only Murders in the Building' TV show
John McEnroe made a cameo appearance in the recently-released episode of the TV show "Only Murders in the Building". The tennis great also used his famous line "You Cannot be Serious" in it.
McEnroe had an impressive tennis career that saw him win seven Grand Slam singles titles, three of which came at Wimbledon. The American's first title at the grass-court Major came in 1981 when he beat Bjorn Borg in the final.
During that tournament, McEnroe beat Tim Gullikson in a first-round match, which is famous for the tennis great famously shouting "You cannot be serious" at the chair umpire after a serve of him was called out.
The 65-year-old used this famous line in his recent appearance on the TV show "Only Murders in the Building", which stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Meryl Streep, among others.
In the fifth episode of the show's fourth season, titled "Adaptation", McEnroe says to Martin Short:
"Nice outfit jacka**. Yelling at children? Are you serious? You cannot be serious."

Only Murders in the Building is not the only TV show where McEnroe has made an appearance, as he featured in a lot of shows and films. He first appeared in the 1979 movie "Players", which starred Ali MacGraw, Dean Paul Martin and Oscar-winner Maximilian Schell. Other tennis players like Ilie Nastase, Pancho Gonzalez and Guillermo Vilas also appeared in the film.
McEnroe notably appeared as a radio show caller on the famous show "Frasier" in 1998, and five years later, he featured in "Saturday Night Live". The former World No. 1 also appeared on the show in 2010, 2012 and 2017.
The seven-time Grand Slam singles champion also appeared on "30 Rock" and was the narrator for the show "Never Have I Ever".
John McEnroe made his last appearance at the Laver Cup as Team World captain alongside his rival Bjorn Borg. Team Europe eked out a 13-11 win at Uber Arena in Berlin thanks to late heroics from Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, who won the last two singles matches against Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe, respectively.
McEnroe previously captained Team World to successive Laver Cup wins in 2022 and 2023. The 65-year-old will be replaced by Andre Agassi as the captain of the team.
