WATCH: Katie Boulter accepts her 'Couple Goals' award with hilarious speech to follow up boyfriend Alex de Minaur's
Following Alex de Minaur's humorous speech after receiving the ATP Socials 'Couple Goals' award, his girlfriend, Katie Boulter, responded with a heartwarming and playful speech of her own.
On Wednesday (Nov. 13), the ATP Tour's official social media accounts shared a video of De Minaur receiving the 'Couple Goals' award. The Aussie acted surprised at receiving the honor, delivering a hilarious speech brimming with over-the-top, fake emotion.
"Wow, this is a dream come true. Honestly, at the start of the year, I had a talk with Katie, I sat her down and I was like 'We need to take this more seriously because we need to win this award'. Honestly, I would call her right now and tell her that we've won the award but she's flying, so, it's a shame," De Minaur said.
"I will let her know and I would not be surprised if she's got some tears of excitement running down her face," he added.
The Aussie's speech was filled with comedic charm and his girlfriend's response was awaited. Just a day later, the LTA posted Boulter's winning speech on their X account. The Brit tried to recreate her boyfriend's over-the-top, fake emotion in her own speech, but couldn't help bursting into laughter at intervals.
"I mean this is the moment I've been waiting for my whole life... I'm obviously really proud of this one. This is the one we've been aiming for. This is the penultimate right here. As Alex said, it means everything to us," Boulter said while holding an imaginary trophy.
"It really means so much. It's going to go straight home onto the mantelpiece in front of all the two trophies that we both got this year, so, yeah, thank you. It means a lot," she added.
The tennis couple, who have been together since 2020, are considered one of the sport's power pairs. With Alex de Minaur ranked as the top Aussie ATP player and Katie Boulter being the top Brit on the WTA, they continue to make waves both on and off the court.
