Leylah Fernandez recently shared her playful side with fans, posting an "outfit of the day" online. The Canadian tennis star dressed up as an avocado, complete with green and brown details, and danced cheerfully in the quirky costume.
In a recent Instagram Reel, Fernandez delighted fans with her playful "tennis player's OOTD [Outfit of the Day]." The 22-year-old showcased her humor, dressed as an avocado paired with red slippers, joyfully posing for pictures and laughing heartily.
She captioned the video:
"Ever wondered what a pro tennis player wears off the court? I like to dress in comfy casual, but am always ready to dress it up ššš„š¤Ŗ"
Fernandez even mentioned that she had taken inspiration from a brand called Avocados from Mexico.
A few weeks ago at the Billie Jean King Cup, Fernandez was asked about her avocado costume, which she had also donned for Halloween. The 2021 US Open runner-up's playful take on the costume drew applause and laughter from the crowd and her fellow players.
"I dressed up as an avocado. I found it sexy. I thought it was the best costume out there. You know, gotta go with the avocados of Mexico," Leylah Fernandez said.
Leylah Fernandez makes banana bread with avocado to keep her 'fueled' with 2025 pre-season 'around the corner'
Leylah Fernandez, who has been 'obsessed' with Avocados from Mexico, collaborated with the brand. She uploaded an Instagram Reel making banana bread with avocado. In the video, Fernandez says:
"Hi everyone, so, as you know, I love snacks, especially banana bread. And, as we're coming close to preseason, here's one of my favorite recipes which is banana bread with avocados."
In the caption, she revealed that she was trying out new and healthy snacks that would keep her energized as the preseason was on the horizon.
"With pre-season around the corner, Iām trying out new snacks to keep me fueled throughout the long training days. This chocolate avocado banana bread is a winner! š„š You can find the full recipe on the @avocadosfrommexico.ca website!" she wrote.
Fernandez's breakthrough year came in 2021 when she captured her first WTA Tour title at the Monterrey Open and reached the US Open final as a teenager. Since then, she has added two more titles to her resume: the Monterrey Open in 2022 and the Hong Kong Open in 2023.
In 2024, Fernandez did win a title and finished her season with a 31-24 record ranked World No. 31.
